.com to .co.uk

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 25, 2008, 3:24 AM
I've been doing a lot of updates on my web design site over the last couple of weeks. Along with a few graphical changes to the header (along with a bit of Flash) I have also been trying to increase my rank in Google.

I read somewhere that if you are trying to target local customers then you should choose your domain name accordingly. As a result I have changed www.retroedgewebdesign.com to www.retroedgewebdesign.co.uk to try and keep the searches to the UK.

Blimey... what a lot of work was involved. Although I did put a redirect in from the old to the new site I still had to go through all my other sites and manually update the link (more for my own piece of mind than anything).

Please take a look at the new site and let me know what you think (from a graphical point of view of course).

About time for my first journal entry...

I've been a member of deviantART for sometime now but have only recently taken advantages of it's many features. I haven't really participated in the whole community spirit side of things; something which I intend to rectify.

Firstly, a bit about myself:

I've always had a love for anything creative. Whether it's drawing, painting or photography I'll give it a go (although I have a varying level of skill in each). My first love is drawing and this has develop over the years with advancements in technology. I now draw, scan and edit my work using Corel DRAW, Illustrator, Photoshop or any other tool I can get my hands on. I'm loving vector art at present which has brought a new dimension to my work.

Over the last two years or so I have been developing skills in web design by using Dreamweaver and Flash. Combined with the vector packages I use these make an excellent combination. I currently maintain two of my own websites at Retro Edge Web [link] and Paul Clapp.com. The first advertises my web design business and the second my art portfolio. I would be interested to hear from anyone who may be need a web site or logo designing. I have recently completed work on the Reuben Lenkiewicz Photography Studio and a logo and site for local metal band Chronical Messiah.com.
